The subject unit was being disassembled for transport when the mechanic mistakenly engaged the release pins on the boom base section causing the boom to drop and impact the ground. The unit has 6,822 upper hours, 4,590 lower hours, 67,648 on the odometer, and is equipped with a mega wing attachment, full counterweight, 259' luffing jib, a single sheave load block, a three-sheave load block, a five-sheave load block and a nine-sheave load block. The lower cab ripped off its mounts at the time of the recoil.
Luffing jib, counterweights, and load blocks are located with the unit.
Two additional luffing jib pieces, a 40' insert and the luffing jib tip are located in Indiana.
The mega wing attachment is located in Indiana.
